Through interdisciplinary artistic practice of cinema and storytelling, Ayala Shoshana Guy’s work initiates movement of de- and re-construction across personal, familial and national narratives. Receiving her BfA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (Jerusalem) and her Meisterschueler degree from the Academy of Visual Arts (Leipzig), she is a recipient of the DAAD Study Scholarship for Foreign Graduates in the field of Arts (2018-2021) and the Meisterschüler*innen-Preis der G2 Kunsthalle (2021). Celebrating its European premiere at DOK Leipzig, Ayala Shoshana Guy’s debut film has garnered considerable attention and will exhibit this season in venues across Europe such as Festival du Court Métrage in Clermont-Ferrand, the B3 Biennial of the Moving Image, Neues Museum Nürnberg, and Kunst und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Bonn.
Ayala is Currently residing in Germany, creating solo and collaborative projects. Her work expands through the subjects of trauma, loss and memory of the body. Starting Summer Semester 2023, she is a lecturer at the Faculty of Art Education and Visual Literacy, University of Passau (Germany).
